History
The local people made their living from agriculture (citrus fruits, sesame, tobacco, cotton, cereals), animal husbandry, weaving (carpet, rug, silk, cloth, etc.) until 1990. After 1990s, the contribution of tourism to the economy has increased considerably. Tourism businesses such as hotel management, restaurant management, yachting and entertainment venues have become widespread and started to contribute to the economy of the town.
Gökova Bay is very rich in terms of fish varieties. For this reason, some of the townspeople earn their living from fishing. The population of Ören Town is approximately 4,500. This figure, together with the surrounding villages, reaches 9,000. With the start of the tourism season in the summer months, the population of the town reaches 70,000.
The climatic conditions of the Mediterranean region are prevailing in the Ören Town. The annual average temperature is around 20°C. The temperature, which reaches 32-34 °C in summer, does not fall below 10 °C during the day in winter. The sea water temperature in the season is around 25°C.
In parallel with these developments in tourism, Gökova Ören Marina; It was started to be built in November 2012 with the build-operate-transfer model by the Ministry of Transport, DLH General Directorate and was completed in 2015 and put into service in the summer season.
Gokova Oren Marina; It is a large complex with a capacity of 415 sea and 130 land, allowing yachts between 8-30 meters to be accommodated from the stern to land, and yachts over 30 meters to the side. Gökova Ören Marina, which offers all the infrastructure services required in a modern marina (such as reverse osmosis, biological treatment plant) in full, provides an important prestige both to the region and to our country with its service quality
The distance of Gökova Ören Marina to Milas-Bodrum Airport is only 57 km and can be reached in 45 minutes. The second alternative is Dalaman Airport, 115 km, and the third alternative, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, 220 km.
One of the favorite bays of the Gökova Gulf; Seven Islands, Okluk Bay, Karacasöğüt Bay, Sedir Island, Çökertme Bay and Akbük Bay are only 7-10 nautical miles from Gökova Ören Marina.
